The F117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet has had a successful history for the United States military… It was first used in our invasion of Panama in 1989 and has flown hundreds of successful missions in many wars since then. Only one F-117 was ever shot down and guess where and when that happened???
On March 27th, 1999 …. Serbian army Colonel Zoltan Dani was able to detect the “invisible” plane and launched several missiles. One successfully hit the plane. The pilot of the plane, Dale Zelko, was fortunate to be able to eject from the plane and land safely in the Serbian wilderness. The United States Marine Corp was able to rescue him before he was captured by Serbian forces.
Twelve years after this happened Dani and Zelko were reunited. They are making a documentary called “The Second Meeting” that will be completed in 2012. It recalls the strange meeting and friendship between the missile colonel and pilot that was shot down by him. It is a heartwarming story that shows anyone can forgive and forget!!
