August 24, 2012 ….

Bojan Zigic of Brookfield, IL was attacked by his girlfriends stepfather, Carl Spoeri, over the usage of a used automobile. He was punched in the face and fell back striking his head on the bumper of the car. The stepfather, Carl Spoeri, was said to have muttered “Let him die.. He isn’t worth it.”  He was taken to Loyola Hospital for emergency brain surgery, but the damage was done. He was placed on life support but died two days later.

Carl Spoeri was charged with first-degree murder and ordered held on $250,000 bond and is awaiting trial.

Bojan, his girlfriend, Erica, and 3 month old son, Luka, had been living with her mother and stepfather saving money for the their upcoming wedding in June. Bojan was working long hours as a truck driver to support his new family. They say he was also assisting the Spoeri family with financial support due to some recent money issues.  The couple had been together for 10 years.  Bojan’s family is not only feeling the emotional loss,  they have bills and the high costs of raising a 3 month old infant.  They are currently living with the Zigic family and having nothing but a bag of clothes to their name. They have set up a donations page on the website, Give Forward. Any donation would greatly appreciated. Please check out the donation page. It ends on Dec 23rd.
